Weather: Low-pressure cold front to affect country

A slight drop temperature is expected today in Palestine, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and cold to very cold conditions, particularly in the mountainous areas, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Starting from midday, a low-pressure cold front is expected to affect the country. Therefore, occasional rain showers along with thunderstorms and occasional hail are expected in the north, gradually intensifying and extending to the center and south of the country.

Winds are southwesterly and moderate to active, while sea waves are low.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 9°C and a low of 4°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 8°C and a low of 3°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 9°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 9°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Monday’s temperature is expected to plummet to 7°C below the seasonal average, paving the way to cloudy and very cold conditions, particularly in the mountains. Rain, thunderstorms and hail are expected during the day and begin to fade away at night.

A rise in temperature is expected on Tuesday but remains 4°C below the seasonal average with frost expected in the early morning hours, said the PMD, which warned people against frost formation in the early morning hours of today and tomorrow.

On Wednesday, a new low-pressure cold front is expected to enter the country bringing with it heavy rain, occasional hail fall, thunderstorms, extremely cold conditions and gusty winds. Temperature is expected to plummet to as low as 9°C below the seasonal average.
