UNRWA’s Lazzarini describes the widespread destruction in Gaza as unprecedented

GENEVA: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, confirmed that the destruction in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli aggression is “unprecedented”, and that the destruction of UNRWA has become one of the goals of the war.

Lazzarini said, during a press conference in Berlin, that “there are growing feelings that international law is being applied selectively, especially with what is happening in Gaza.”

He added that “about 70% of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip has been destroyed,” and “the situation in Gaza is horrific for professional relief workers, and the extent of the destruction is unprecedented.”

He continued that “the majority of the population of the Gaza Strip is crowded into an area that does not exceed 10% of the entire area of ??the Strip,” and “about 400,000 people are trapped in the northern Gaza Strip.”

He stressed that “Israel does not allow international media to go to Gaza, and the information
coming from there is limited.”

Lazzarini attacked Israel, saying that “dismantling UNRWA has become one of the goals of the war… and “Israeli lawmakers are working to issue laws to dismantle UNRWA.”
