Baghdad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs Maher Hammad Johan discussed with the First Assistant to the Head of the USAID Mission in Iraq, Andrew Pelt, strengthening cooperation in various fields.

The Ministry stated in a statement: “The meeting discussed strengthening joint cooperation in various fields between the Iraqi government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), within the scope of the government’s priorities specified in its government program, and the five-year national development plan for the years (2024-2028), in addition to discussing aspects of future cooperation related to climate change, the investment environment in Iraq and raising levels of economic growth.”

The Undersecretary explained: “The government is currently focusing on a number of priorities, including confronting climate change, adopting renewable energy, and focusing on creating an attractive environment for investment.”

He stressed the importance of raising the lev
el of cooperation and coordinating meetings at the technical level between the Ministry’s team and the US Agency for International Development, to achieve maximum benefit from international support.

The meeting was attended by Erin Moon Marquis and Deputy US Ambassador to Iraq David Borker, in addition to the Director General of International Cooperation Saher Abdul Kadhim, and a number of stakeholders in the Ministry.
