UN calls for independent investigation into Israeli airstrike on northern Lebanon

The United Nations human rights office on Tuesday called for an independent investigation into the Israeli airstrike that hit a residential building in northern Lebanon, leaving 22 people dead, including 12 women and two children.

“We have learned that it was a four-story apartment building that was bombed, and taking these factors into account, we have real concerns regarding international humanitarian law,” said Jeremy Lawrence, spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
