Ukraine announced today that it has recovered the remains of 250 soldiers from Russia, and handed over the remains of 38 Russian soldiers to Moscow authorities, in one of the largest exchanges of war victims between the two countries since the outbreak of tensions between them in February 2022.

The Ukrainian authorities did not specify the location of the exchange of remains, but local media outlets suggested that it would be in the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine, close to the border between the two countries.

Last February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that at least 31,000 soldiers from his country were killed during the two years of war.

The Russian military operation in Ukraine, which is the worst conflict in Europe since the end of World War II, has led to the death and loss of thousands of soldiers from both countries. (QNA)
