The captain of the Portuguese team, Cristiano Ronaldo, has reinforced his record of achievements in the UEFA Euro 2024 currently held in Germany, despite Portugal’s elimination from the competition in the quarterfinals after losing to France in a penalty shootout 5-3.

Ronaldo maintained his record as the top scorer in the history of the Euros with a total of 14 goals, scoring two goals in the 2004 edition, one in 2008, three in 2012, another three in 2016, and five in 2020. He surpasses Michel Platini, the runner-up, with 9 goals.

He was unable to score any goals in the 2024 edition, albeit playing 5 matches his team, missing a penalty kick against Slovenia in the round of 16, maintaining only one goal scored by Bruno Fernandes vs. Turkiye in the group stage.

Additionally, Ronaldo successfully converted penalty kicks in the shootouts against Slovenia and France. He won the Euro title once with his team in the 2016 edition, after drubbing France in the final 1-0, in addition to finishing as the runner-up in
the 2004 edition after losing the final to Greece 1-0.
