NABLUS: Two Palestinians Friday evening sustained injuries from Israeli army gunfire in the town of Beita, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local and medical sources.
Local sources said that Israeli occupation forces barged their way into the town, triggering confrontations, which saw the gun-toting soldiers opening live ammunition, tear gas canisters and stun grenades towards local youths confronting them.
Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that its medics evacuated a 20-year-old youth and a 16-year-old teen, who sustained gunshot injuries in the back and chest respectively, in the course of the confrontations to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for ‘wanted’ Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary pow
ers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
