A training course on safe management of medical waste, cholera case management, and infection control for 6 health facilities in Maqbanah district in Maqbanah governorate concluded on Monday in Maqbanah district.

The course, which was organized over 6 days by the Health and Environment Office with the support of “The Tamdeen Youth” Foundation, aimed to train 15 male and female trainees in various health fields, and provide them with the concepts of medical waste and sound management policies, its positive impact, dealing with it according to safety standards, cholera case management, and infection control in health facilities.

During the conclusion, the Director of the Health Office in the governorate, Dr. Abdul Malik Al-Mutawakel, confirmed that the course targeted health facilities to raise the skills and capabilities of administrative and health cadres on medical waste, and how to deal and dispose of it in safe, healthy and sound ways, in accordance with the policies and procedures followed in order to m
aintain the safety of health service providers and patients and the cleanliness of the health facilities in which they work.

Dr. Fadel al-Qubati, deputy director of the health office in the governorate, said the course focused on qualifying trainees and providing them with skills related to forming a waste management team in the health facility, defining its tasks, risk management and planning methods, as well as classifying waste through sorting, collection, storage and transportation.
