The newspapers issued today, Sunday, paid attention to the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the governorates of Maysan and Basra, and the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Muayyad Al-Lami, stressed the importance of showing the bright image of Iraq to the Arab and foreign media delegations that will visit Iraq.

Regarding the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the governorates of Maysan and Basra, Al-Sabah newspaper said that the Prime Minister, yesterday, Saturday, opened the associated gas treatment project in the Halfaya field in Maysan governorate, which will contribute to the operation of power stations and the production of liquid fuel. He also opened the high octane unit project in the Basra refinery, which will secure the country’s need for high octane gasoline.

Al-Sudani stressed, in a statement, that ‘the specific project comes within efforts to increase the benefit from oil and gas wealth, in order to stop the burning of associated gas and the waste it en
tails and its impact on the environment and health.’

He stated that “gas will contribute directly to the operation of electrical stations and stop gas imports and the hard currency it depletes annually, as gas production has realistically increased from 2,972 million standard cubic feet per day in (2022) to the level of 3,100 million standard cubic feet per day.”

He added, “The investment rate for associated gas has increased from 50% to 61%, and efforts and plans are continuing to invest in all the gas produced, and the goal is to reach a (zero) rate of burned gas, by the year 2028.”

Regarding the National Day of the Iraqi Press, Al-Zawraa newspaper, which is published by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, quoted the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, President of the Federation of Arab Journalists, Muayad Al-Lami, stressing the importance of showing the bright image of Iraq and the major reconstruction campaign that the country is witnessing in front of the Arab and foreign media delegations that wil
l participate in the press family’s celebrations this year on National Day of the Iraqi press, which represents more than (50) countries around the world.

A statement by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate said, ‘The head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Muayyad Al-Lami, chaired the meeting of the supreme committee charged with preparing for the celebrations of the Iraqi Press National Day on its 155th anniversary.’

Al-Lami reviewed, according to the statement, ‘before the members of the Supreme Committee appointed by the Prime Minister, the syndicate’s procedures regarding inviting and hosting delegations and personalities from various countries of the world, which include Arab and foreign ministers of culture and information, heads of Arab media institutions, and international organizations concerned with journalism and media, in addition to preparing all the logistical and technical requirements for holding the celebrations, most notably the preparation for the central celebration that will be held in Al-
Zawraa Hall of Al-Rashid Hotel on Sunday morning, June 30, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, the festive festival for the syndicate’s branches in the governorates, which will be held in the gardens of Abu Nuwas Street, and the public celebration at the Cultural and Social Center, One Thousand Nights and night, in addition to hosting the meetings of the General Secretariat of the Arab Journalists Federation.’

The statement added, ‘We discussed the facilities that would be provided by the supporting bodies represented by a number of ministries and other departments to make this national celebration a success.’

The statement indicated that ‘the meeting included representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Culture, and Transport, the Intelligence Service, the Baghdad Operations Command, the Baghdad Municipality, and the Iraqi Media Network, in addition to members of the Syndicate Council.’
