Thousands of Turks participated last night in a massive march with torches in the city of Istanbul to demand freedom for Palestine and an end to the Israeli occupation of its lands.

The march took place under the slogan ‘We walk with torches to end the occupation and freedom for Palestine,’ under the supervision of the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation.

The participants in the march, which started in front of the historic Hagia Sophia Mosque and ended in Eminonu Square, carried Palestinian flags and statues of US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in reference to their role in the hideous massacres taking place in Gaza City.

The march participants chanted slogans against Israel and the United States in Turkish and English, denouncing America’s policy of supporting Israel in committing genocide crimes.

The French activist, professor of international law, Franck Romano, and the Turkish kung fu champion, Necmettin Erbakan Ak Yuz, participated in the march.

urday, students from 20 Turkish universities gathered in Beyazit Square on the European side of Istanbul in solidarity with the people of Gaza and to denounce the Israeli attacks on the Strip.

At their gathering, university students raised banners with the phrases written in Turkish, Arabic and English on them: ‘Stop genocide in Palestine,’ ‘Israel destroyed 12 entire universities in Gaza and must be punished,’ ‘We support free Palestine,’ and ‘Free Palestine from the sea to the river.’ / Killer Israel, leave Palestine/.

At the conclusion of the activities of solidarity with the people of Gaza, the students participating in the gathering issued a statement in Turkish, Arabic and English in which they affirmed that the tragedy that Gaza is currently experiencing, of war, destruction and displacement, is happening with American complicity with Israel and that the students will confront this complicity with the positions and confrontations it deserves in support of the people of Gaza and to achieve justice.

n a related context, other Turkish states witnessed protest demonstrations in which students from the universities of Selcuk, Tigris, Inön, Gaziantep, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Siirt, Republic, Ankara University of Social Sciences, Middle East Technical University, Uludag, Kocaeli and Gebze Technical University participated.
