Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the need to overcome obstacles facing investors and support Iraqi businessmen.

A presidential statement stated: ‘The President of the Republic received the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Haider Muhammad Makiya, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, and during the meeting, the Commission’s work plans and its investment policy were reviewed.’

The President stressed the need to overcome obstacles facing investors, in addition to supporting Iraqi businessmen and involving them in the investment process.

In this regard, the President of the Republic explained: ‘Activating investment requires amending some of the laws in force,” stressing his support for everything that would facilitate and revitalize this vital sector in a way that strengthens the national economy and provides job opportunities.’

The President also stressed developing communication mechanisms, exchanging experiences and information, and strengthening the proce
ss of trade partnerships between Iraq and countries with expertise in this field.

For his part, Makiya stressed the Commission’s keenness to develop the work, reviewing the investment plans and projects in the works, in addition to future plans drawn up to develop all cities in Iraq and serve their residents.
