Gaza – Ma’an – Rafah Mayor Dr. Ahmed Al-Sufi confirmed that the occupation forces that penetrated the neighborhoods and areas of Rafah bulldozed and destroyed more than twenty public parks in various neighborhoods of the city.

Dr. Al-Sufi said: ‘The occupation’s machinery and warplanes destroyed most of the public parks in Rafah Governorate, most notably the Japanese Garden, the Saudi neighborhood gardens, the UNDP, the beach garden, the marine club west of the city, Bilal Street Garden in the middle of the city, and Haroun Al-Rashid Garden south of the city.’

He explained that the policy of blackout and isolation of Rafah from the outside world causes great difficulty in determining the extent of the damage and the truth of the crimes.

Al-Sufi explained that the occupation forces are adopting a scorched earth policy during their ongoing operations, with the aim of destroying the infrastructure, public facilities, and citizens’ property.

He added: “The policy of systematic sabotage and destruction has aff
ected many service facilities, but the continuation of military operations and the prevention of emergency crews from reaching most areas of Rafah prevents the ability to collect accurate data and reveal the extent of the crimes of genocide committed by the occupation forces in Rafah.”

Al-Sufi renewed his call to the United Nations, human rights organizations, and international community institutions to exert serious pressure to stop the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
