The National Security Advisory held a symposium on the safe management of migration.

National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji pointed out, during the opening of the symposium, that immigration is a humanitarian issue, and there must be international controls and laws that regulate it, stressing the importance of supporting and developing the Ministry of Immigration, as it is an important sector that deals with pressing humanitarian issues.

Al-Araji added that we still have a large number of displaced people living in conditions that may be unsuitable for Iraqis, and that the Iraqi government is working to end this file according to its ministerial program, in a way that preserves the dignity of Iraqis and returns the displaced to their areas voluntarily, pointing out that Iraq rejects the forced return of any Iraqi citizen from outside Iraq whose asylum applications were rejected.

Al-Araji appreciated the efforts that help solve the crisis of migrants and displaced people, hoping that the symposium will come up with recommendations and proposals that will help the Iraqi government solve this crisis.

The symposium discussed axes related to migration, including the foreign policy axis and the social and humanitarian axis, in addition to presenting several visions and proposals that would help solve the migration and displacement crisis.
