Baghdad, Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, discussed with the Qatari Ooredoo Group, which specializes in the communications sector, the landing of new submarine cables in Al-Faw.

The Ministry of Communications stated in a statement that Al-Yasiri received, today, Thursday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Executive Vice President of the Qatari Ooredoo Group, which specializes in the communications sector and owns a percentage of the submarine cables passing through the Arabian Gulf to pass international communications to international companies.

During the meeting, according to the statement, Al-Yasiri stressed the importance of joint and large cooperation with the Qatari side through the Ooredoo group to lower a number of submarine cables at Al-Faw station to pass Internet bandwidth through Iraq to Europe.

The Minister stressed the importance of continuing to activate contractual procedures to lower marine cables to pass international communications and enhance Iraq’s important geographic
al location, which is parallel to the Suez Canal in the region.
