Al-Amara, The local government in Maysan Governorate denounced that the governorate building was exposed to gunfire by a passing vehicle carrying a group of armed men in the middle of Al-Amara.

A statement from the governor’s media office stated: ‘This armed group committed this act because its interests were harmed by enforcing the law, highlighting the prestige of the state, and preserving public funds and state property from being encroached upon.’

The statement added: “The government will pursue the perpetrators through the security and intelligence services and all deterrent measures will be taken against them, calling on citizens to stand with government institutions in imposing the prestige of the state and preserving national interests and public money in order to provide the best services to the people of the governorate.”

In a related context, the Governor of Maysan, Habib Al-Fartusi, held a security conference in the presence of the commanders of Maysan police and operations and the head of the
Security Committee of the Provincial Council to discuss the attack that occurred on the governorate’s office building.

The governor stressed the need for the security services to bear full responsibility, impose the prestige of the state, and uncover the perpetrators who trespassed on the governorate building and bring them to justice, stressing the importance of full coordination between the security agencies and local institutions and continuing to remove trespasses on state property and arrest outlaws and bring them to justice.
