The Russian-Chinese naval maneuvers “Baybu/Interaction – 2024” (Mutual Interaction) were launched in Vladivostok today.

A source in the media department of the Pacific Fleet said: “A joint group of warships of the Russian Pacific Fleet and the Chinese Navy sailed from Vladivostok to conduct the joint Russian-Chinese naval exercises, Mutual Interaction 2024.”

Before the joint detachment of warships left the Russian naval base, a ceremonial parade of the ships’ crews was held, in which senior officials from each side announced the start of the bilateral training.

Over the course of a week, the ships of the joint group in the Sea of Japan will train to repel an attack from a fictitious enemy from the air, water and underwater, and to carry out joint maneuvering and defense operations when stationed in an unprotected place.”

The crews of the ships will carry out artillery shelling and numerous combat exercises using anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weapons.

The Russian Navy conducted the “Ocean-2024” strateg
ic command and staff exercises, which lasted until September 16. A group of Chinese warships took part in part of these massive naval maneuvers.

The maneuvers, which took place in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, the Caspian Sea and the Baltic Sea, involved more than 400 warships, submarines and various auxiliary fleet support vessels, more than 120 aircraft and helicopters, about 7,000 pieces of weapons and military and special equipment, in addition to more than 90,000 servicemen.
