The Israeli army and the General Security Service “Shabak” announced in a joint statement today, Wednesday, the launch of a military operation for what it described as “fighting terrorism” in the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm in the West Bank.

Western media outlets in the West Bank indicated that Israeli forces are launching a large-scale simultaneous raid campaign in Jenin, Tulkarm, and the Far’a camp in Tubas.

Local Palestinian sources said that “the occupation forces are besieging Palestinian hospitals in the city of Tulkarm, north of the West Bank.”

Israeli media announced that hundreds of soldiers are participating in an operation in the northern West Bank, supported by air cover.

Activists on social media circulated video clips showing Israeli army forces carrying out an airdrop operation in the Far’a camp, south of Tubas.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that “the army forces are besieging hospitals in Tulkarm and Jenin as part of its expanded operation.”

The newspaper added that “the Sh
in Bet and undercover forces are joining the army in its operations in the northern West Bank.”

Local sources reported that the vicinity of the Far’a camp and Wadi al-Far’a witnessed earlier tonight active movement of reconnaissance drones, in addition to the deployment of infantry forces around the camp, after which the camp was stormed by a large number of Israeli army soldiers.

The Israeli forces also sent military reinforcements from the Hamra military checkpoint towards the Far’a camp.

The official Israeli radio said that “the operation launched by the army in the northern West Bank is the largest since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, and that the operation is being carried out with the participation of the Air Force and large forces.”

The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth also confirmed that “the Israeli army used deceptive tactics in its operation in the northern West Bank and raided 3 areas simultaneously.
