The Department of Economic Relations at the Ministry of Trade discussed with a delegation from the Russian Asia Expo Foundation, the promoter and organizer of the Asia Expo 2024 exhibition, which specializes in storing, transporting and building grain silos and agricultural equipment, the potential for economic and trade cooperation and increasing the volume of joint exchange.

The Director General of the Department, Riyadh Al-Hashemi, said in a statement: “The meeting reviewed the bilateral economic relations between Iraq and the Russian Federation and the need to increase the volume of trade exchange by promoting products and goods in both countries, as well as the importance of the Russian Federation’s participation in the upcoming session of the Baghdad International Fair, as the exhibition represents an important platform and opportunity for Russian companies to display their products.”

The meeting also discussed the potential for cooperation in the field of building silos, in addition to other topics,
including the use of mechanization and modern mechanisms, agriculture, and contracting companies with Iraqi sectors, and the possibility of localizing industrial and agricultural projects in Iraq.

For his part, Ikor Milovanov, Executive Director of Asia Expo Foundation, confirmed his country’s interest in participating in the (48) Baghdad International Fair, calling on Iraqi companies represented by the public and private sectors and Iraqi businessmen to participate in the Asia Expo, indicating the importance of Iraq’s participation for his country. He pointed out that more than 30 countries have confirmed their participation in the exhibition and that all companies from the holding company and leading companies in the agricultural industry from all over Russia will also be present.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the head of the Russian delegation extended an official invitation to the Minister of Trade to participate in the Asia Expo in the Russian city of Sochi.

The meeting was attended on the Iraqi si
de by the Director General of the Grain Company, the Assistant Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations, representatives of the public companies affiliated with the Ministry and the Iraqi private sector, and specialists in Russian affairs.
