Sudanese army agrees on IGAD’s proposal to extend truce

Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan announced his initial approval of the IGAD’s initiative to extend the truce for additional 72 hours.

In a press statement, Al-Burhan agreed on IGAD’s invitation to both sides of the conflict to send a representative to South Sudan to negotiate details of the truce extension.

The rival the Rapid Support Forces did not comment on the IGAD’s initiative.

In the meantime, fighting continued in the capital Khartoum and several other cities despite the three-day, US-Saudi-mediated ceasefire.

The Sudanese Ministry of Health said that the death toll had risen to 512 and the number of injured people to 4,193.
