Spain: UNIFIL will not withdraw from southern Lebanon

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed today, Monday, that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) will not withdraw from its areas of deployment, despite being recently subjected to attacks by the Zionist army.

Sanchez criticized Benjamin Netanyahu, who called on Sunday on the Secretary-General of the international organization, Antonio Guterres, to remove UNIFIL “from danger immediately.”

Sanchez said, during a forum in Barcelona organized by the Prisa Media Group, “We condemn, and will continue to condemn, the statement made by Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday, with all firmness.”

Earlier, the European Union condemned the Zionist entity’s army targeting UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, criticized the Zionist entity’s accusation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of anti-Semitism.

In the same context, Spain and Ireland called on EU countries to suspend the free trade agreement with Tel Aviv.
