SpaceX Launches Indonesian Communications Satellite

SpaceX is launching a new Indonesian satellite into orbit that is dedicated to communications.

The Staria-1 satellite launched aboard the Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Space Airport Base in Florida earlier yesterday.

The first phase of the rocket returned to Earth after 8.5 minutes, in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.

Meanwhile, the upper stage of Falcon 9 continued to carry Staria-1 into Earth’s simultaneous transport orbit, deploying it less than 37 minutes after takeoff.

The new satellite will provide high-speed Internet to schools, medical centres and thousands of public and government facilities in Indonesia.
