South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol met today with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who is currently visiting Seoul, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between their countries.

In statements following the meeting, Yoon expressed his hope for South Korea and Japan to work together toward a better future in their bilateral relations, acknowledging that there are still challenging issues between the two nations.

Yoon emphasized that in order to continue strengthening cooperation between South Korea and Japan, as well as trilateral cooperation between South Korea, the United States, and Japan, it is important to maintain the positive momentum of bilateral collaboration, which has been fostered by the two leaders.

This marks Kishidas second visit to South Korea since the bilateral summit with President Yoon held in Seoul in May 2023, which significantly improved relations between the two nations and led to the resumption of reciprocal visits by their leaders. (QNA)
