The recent statements made by the so-called Zionist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich have once again shed light on the entirety of the policies of starvation, thirst, and siege that the people of the Gaza Strip are being subjected to in order to complete the genocide project against them, as they are being subjected to an unprecedented starvation campaign as punishment for their adherence to the land and their refusal of the Zionist orders to evacuate and displace.
Smotrich had stated last Monday that preventing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is “justified and moral.”
As the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip enters its 307th day, the state of hunger and thirst is intensifying and reaching catastrophic levels due to the siege imposed by the Zionist enemy on the Strip and its prevention of the entry of food, water, fuel, and basic needs, and the cutting off of its forces penetrating the Strip’s joints increases the harshness of the scene.
Medical reports speak of an accelerating increase in the numbe
r of martyrs due to malnutrition and the lack of necessary medicines and medical supplies, in light of the tight siege imposed by the Zionist enemy on the areas of the Strip.
The Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, Ismail Al-Thawabat, considered the starvation policy practiced by the Zionist enemy an integral part of the crime of genocide carried out by the enemy authorities against the Palestinians for about ten months by closing all crossings since October 7th and destroying the Rafah crossing on May 7th after taking control of it and closing the only lifeline in Gaza.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, in turn, revealed the extent of the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip when it spoke of recording daily deaths of patients and the injured due to the siege, the enemy preventing the entry of medical supplies and medicines, and the destruction of the health sector, describing the occupation entity’s practice of a comprehensive siege, and depriving citizens of treatment and
food as slow killing for those who were not killed by bombs and missiles.
Smotrich’s statements sparked angry reactions from the international community, as the European Union considered these statements to be “extremely shameful.”
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said in a statement: “We strongly condemn the recent statements made by the Israeli Finance Minister last Monday,” stressing that “deliberately starving civilians is a war crime.”
For its part, France expressed its “deep dismay at the outrageous statements” made by Smotrich. A spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “France calls on the Israeli government to condemn these unacceptable statements in the strongest terms.”
In London, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said in a post on the social media platform “X”: “There can be no justification for Minister Smotrich’s comments.”
Lammy called on the Israeli enemy government to “retract and condemn his s
tatements,” adding: “Deliberately starving civilians is a war crime.”
For its part, the German Foreign Ministry condemned Smotrich’s statements. A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in Berlin said: “The statements of the Zionist Finance Minister are completely unacceptable and outrageous. We reject them in the strongest terms.”
The German spokesman added: “It is a humanitarian duty and a basic principle of international humanitarian law that even in war, civilians must be protected and must have, for example, the right to access water and food.”
In response to these statements, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the International Criminal Court on Thursday to issue an arrest warrant for the Zionist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, following his call to starve two million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to death.
The ministry said in a statement: “The racist statement made by Smotrich regarding the starvation and death of two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip represents a direct expression
of the ugliest forms of fascism.”
She added: Smotrich’s statement represents “an explicit admission of adopting a policy of genocide and boasting about it, especially since it was issued by a Zionist minister.
She continued: “This statement is considered a blatant violation of the rules of international law and basic principles of humanity, a blatant challenge to the International Court of Justice and its precautionary orders, and a direct disregard for international legitimacy decisions and international consensus on protecting civilians and securing their basic humanitarian needs.”
She also called on the countries of the world to “condemn this position and declare a boycott of Smotrich and his ilk and prevent him from entering their territories.”
On Thursday, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, condemned the extremist Smotrich’s statements regarding his justification for the killing of Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip.
Rishq said in a stateme
nt on his Telegram channel: Smotrich’s statement, in which he said that starving two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is “a just and moral matter,” is a blatant statement that confirms once again the enemy’s premeditated intention and its actual adoption of a policy of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
He added: “We usually hear The criminal covers up his crime, but we are dealing with an insolent enemy that openly declares his heinous crime.’
Al-Rashq called on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for this terrorist, who promotes and supports genocide, and to hold him and his gang of neo-Nazis accountable.
Earlier, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague requested the issuance of arrest warrants for the Prime Minister of the Zionist enemy, Benjamin Netanyahu, and other Zionists, accusing them of starving civilians as a method of war, in addition to arbitrary killings and attacks targeting civilians.
