The Saudi Space Agency (SSA), on Monday, launched of the Space Concurrent Design Facility (CDF).

SSA affirmed that the inauguration of this facility comes as part of its efforts to strengthen the Saudi Arabia’s position in the space field, along with its endeavors to develop national capabilities in this critical sector.

The Agency added that CDF will significantly contribute to planning and executing multiple space missions by applying the principles of concurrent engineering and utilizing cutting-edge technologies in analysis and simulation, in addition to reducing the time required for preparing feasibility studies for space missions by up to 75 percent, as well as reducing the cost required for designing space systems by up to 50 percent.

Additionally, SSA affirmed that it has adopted the Integrated Mission Life cycle IML as a methodology and framework for the implementation of projects and programs and development of space-related products to achieve operational excellence, provide a standard framewor
k, improve efficiency, and coordinate a variety of activities. Also, the agency positions itself as a reference for best practices in managing complex engineering projects.

SSA intends to reinforce partnership with key players in this field, regionally and globally, to support space activities in the country, ensure the growth of space economy at regional and global sectors, as well as encourage interest in space missions as a fundamental groundwork for boosting sustainable development.
