Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, is participating in the Mohammed VI International Prize for Quran Memorization, Interpretation, and Recitation, taking place in Casablanca, Morocco. The competition began yesterday, Tuesday.

Director of the Department of Da’awah and Religious Guidance Malallah Abdulrahman Al Jaber said that Qatar’s participation in this edition will be in two categories. Contestant Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Abdul Rahim Al Haram will compete in the category of memorization of the entire Quran, along with its recitation and interpretation of the fifth and sixth parts. Another contestant, Nouman Imran Abdul Hamid Abdul Qayyum Ahmed, will participate in the category of recitation and good performance. The delegation is led by the Head of the Religious Guidance Section in the department Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Thani. The contestants were nominated by the Quran and its Sciences Section of the Department of Da’awah and Religious Guida
nce at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

Al Jaber highlighted the role of the Quran and its Sciences Section and its commitment to excellence in this important area, which focuses on the Quran and its memorization by Qatari youth. The section works on preparing the participating students and provides all necessary support as part of the ministry’s efforts and its commitment to preparing and qualifying young Qataris who memorize the Quran. This includes assigning a dedicated supervisor from among the skilled teachers to review and thoroughly prepare the contestant during the period leading up to the competition.

It is noteworthy that this year, 55 contestants are competing in the prize, which is divided into two categories: the first is for full memorization with recitation and interpretation, including the meanings of words, general meaning, reasons for revelation, rhetoric, grammar, and the rulings derived from the verse. The second category is for recitation and good performance.
