The Qatar national football team has dropped to 44th place globally, ranking fifth among Arab teams in the latest FIFA rankings released Thursday.

Qatar fell ten spots from its previous ranking, earning 1,481.69 points, ahead of Romania, which ranked 45th.

World Cup champions Argentina maintained their top position globally with 1,889.02 points, followed by France in second. Spain, England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy completed the top ten rankings.

In the Arab world, Morocco retained its lead despite slipping to 14th globally, followed by Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria, ranked 31st, 36th, and 41st, respectively.

On the Asian front, Japan took the lead, ranking 16th globally, after moving up two places, followed by Iran, South Korea, and Australia in 19th, 23rd, and 25th places, respectively.
