Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Tuesday kicked off “Develop a Security Service” hackathon event, which aims to create a “competitive” environment to receive innovative and creative ideas to participate in developing solutions, and launching services.

The event comes within the framework of the PSD’s endeavor to continue the modernization and development phase launched by its Director, Maj. Gen. Dr. Obaidullah Maaytah, within its strategic plan, according to a PSD statement.

The hackathon provides a competition to all citizens, via the PSD’s official website, to submit creative thoughts and then the winners’ ideas will be transformed into projects and development plans, the PSD said.

Additionally, the hackathon features two main axes: The first aims to improve the Kingdom’s traffic situation, especially with regard to traffic safety and ways to reduce traffic accidents and alleviate traffic jams.

The competition also receives new innovative methods to develop driver and vehicle licensing services, whi
le the second axis focuses on ways to develop Jordan’s civil protection fields, primarily ambulance, rescue, and firefighting services.

In an interview with Public Security Radio, Director of the PSD Studies Department, Lit. Col. Dr. Khansa Sawalha, indicated that the hackathon allows citizens and public workers to submit their creative ideas during the first month, while the second and third months will focus on the interactive aspect by establishing a training camp and assessing the applications.

Sawalha invited those wishing to participate in the competition to send their creative ideas by accessing the PSD website (www.psd.gov.jo) and filling out the related form.
