Prime Minister: We must start a new beginning away from revenge

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the importance of starting a new beginning, far from revenge.

He said in an interview with Al-Jazeera satellite channel that there is no targeting of the Sunni component because it was also subjected to the injustice of the previous regime.

He added, “Today everyone believes in the political process, and terrorism does not represent the Sunnis,” indicating that ISIS is a terrorist gang and most of the victims are from the Sunni component, who were subjected to displacement and killing at the hands of ISIS.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani affirmed that the components preserved their presence in the new constitution, after this matter was missing in the previous regime.

He said: Today there is a separation among the four authorities and there is no overlap among them.

He explained that the division into the four authorities is not found in the constitution, but rather has become a norm among the components with regard to assuming leadership positions in the four presidencies (the Republic, Ministers, Parliament and the Judiciary).

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani affirmed that the fall of the former regime is a lesson for all politicians, especially with regard to corruption and monopolization of power.

He said: Iraq is not deprived of its will, and the occupation was ended in 2011, and the Arab summit was held in Baghdad, but the big mistake was the Arabs leaving Iraq during the previous period.

He stressed that Iraq fought ISIS on behalf of the world, including the Arabs, and after the defeat of ISIS, the Arabs became aware of this mistake.

Al-Sudani affirmed that what happened in the Khaliji of Basra in terms of welcoming the Gulf nationals was a spontaneous act by all Iraqis.

Al-Sudani said: Until now, Gulf nationals easily enter Iraq, and the decisions will not change by entering them without a visa, and it is important for us, the Iraqi people and the brothers in the Gulf.
