Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today called on Greece to put pressure on Israel to ceasefire and stop the aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The Prime Minister made this appeal during his meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis at his office in Ramallah, in the presence of Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Malki.

He pointed out the need to put pressure on Israel to open all crossings leading to the Gaza Strip in order to bring in relief aid and not limit it to the Rafah crossing.

The Prime Minister expressed his rejection of all attempts by Israel to seize or occupy any parts of the Gaza Strip and attempts to separate it from the West Bank, which he stressed is an integral part of the future independent Palestinian state.

‘In addition to the occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip, Israel is waging a systematic war on the West Bank through incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and holy places, escalating settlement and confiscation of lands,
daily killings, arrests and arming of settlers, and placing barriers to impede the movement of goods and individuals,’ the Prime Minister told his Greek guest, calling for pressure on Israel to release all of the withheld Palestinian money, ‘which is our right,” and to stop all illegal deductions from clearing funds.

Shtayyeh also stressed the importance of working to create a political track and horizon based on United Nations resolutions and international legitimacy to end the occupation and establish the independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
