RAMALLAH: Spokesperson for the Presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh today said that Israeli killings of Palestinians and destruction of their property and infrastructure would neither bring security nor stability to anyone.

Abu Rudeineh cautioned against Israeli attempts to destabilize the whole region by proceeding with the genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of 40,819 Palestinians and injuring 94,291 others, as well as with the its largest offensive on the occupied West Bank, marked by attacking the cities -Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas- along with their refugee camps from land and air, killing scores of Palestinians and inflicting enormous damage on infrastructure.

Expressing rejection and condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks affirming Israeli control over the Philadelphi Corridor, also known as the Salah El-Din axis, and his use of a map erasing the West Bank, Abu Rudeineh said that these remarks are a grave violation of all United Nations resolutions
as well as signed agreements and demonstrate Israel’s harbored intentions to consolidate its occupation, annexation and settler-colonialism of the West Bank.

He held the US administration, the main supporter of the Israeli occupation, fully responsible for the deteriorating and volatile situation, and called it on to compel the occupation authorities to halt their all-out war against the Palestinian people and their territories and to implement the relevant UN resolutions and international law as a means to prevent conflagration in the region, which would threaten the interests of all parties.

Commenting on the US efforts, he affirmed that Palestine would continue to continue to be a top priority on the agenda of the world and such efforts are not meant to bring an end to the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Strip, but to contain a wider regional war, noting that such a war has not broken out and the Palestinian question has not been solved.

What is required now, he concluded, is to put in place a road
map that would be based on Palestinian, Arab and international legitimacy and address the ramifications of a perpetual 100-year-long war against the Palestinian people -a war that would not come to an end except by realizing the aspirations of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence.

Meanwhile, the Presidency condemned Netanyahu’s remarks on the Corridor and accused him of trying to involve Egypt to divert Israeli public opinion, obstruct a ceasefire deal and proceed with his war against the Palestinian people.

It expressed great appreciation for Egypt’s role rejecting the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, while affirming that Palestinian-Egyptian border and sovereign borders and rejecting the presence of any Israeli forces either along the Philadelphi Corridor or on the Rafah border crossing.

It commended Egypt for its relentless efforts to bring about security and stability in the region, and expressed appreciation of Egypt, Qatar and Jordan’s role to reach ceasefire, end the Isra
eli genocidal aggression, ensure a full and immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip and prevent the displacement of Palestinians from the Strip as well as from the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
