US President Joe Biden emphasized Sunday that “there is no place in America for this kind of violence, or any violence” after Saturday’s assassination attempt against his rival Donald Trump at an election rally in Pennsylvania.

In a White House statement, President Biden said that he spoke with former President Trump last night, and that he is grateful of Trump’s wellbeing and recovery, “Jill and I are keeping him and his family in our prayers.” Biden said.

He also extended his and his family’s deepest condolences to the family of the victim who was killed, as they also expressed their wishes to the injured for their full recovery.

The President strongly condemned the act stressing that “an assassination attempt is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation; Everything. It is not who we are as a nation. It’s not America, and we cannot allow this to happen.” “Unity is the most elusive goal of all, but nothing is important than that right now” Biden said, as he calls for his nation to unite under these
extraordinary circumstances.

The President added that he and vice president Kamala Harris have been briefed by Homeland Security advisor, Director of the FBI, Director of the Secret Service, Attorney General, and National security advisor.

Biden pointed to some steps his administration is taking like making sure that former president Trump receives “a heightened level of security” as he continues his campaign and directing the head of the Secret Service to “review all security measures for the Republican National Convention, which is scheduled to start tomorrow.” He also directed “an independent review of the national security at yesterday’s rally to assess exactly what happened.” As he will share the findings with the public.

The President announced that he will be speaking more about this, Sunday night, at a greater length from the oval office stressing that “We must unite as one nation. We must unite as one nation to demonstrate who we are.” On Saturday, former President and current presidential candida
te Donald Trump was shot at in an assassination attempt that occurred at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where one of the attendees died and two others severely injured, as Trump was rushed off stage.
