SANA’A – SABA: Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi met on Sunday with UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Julien Harneis.

The meeting, which included Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer, focused on strengthening cooperation between Yemen and the United Nations, aiming to enhance joint work mechanisms in various development and humanitarian areas that address the urgent needs of the Yemeni people.

The Prime Minister expressed the government’s commitment to fostering better relations with the UN and international organizations operating in Yemen, highlighting the humanitarian challenges intensified by ongoing aggression and blockade.

He emphasized the need for increased cooperation to mitigate these challenges, reflecting the UN’s responsibility in this regard.

Al-Rahawi also noted that the UN’s budget reductions for Yemen hinder partnership relations, especially given the significant humanitarian issues resulting from a decade of conflict and recent torrential rains
.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to resolving any obstacles that might impede the work of UN agencies and international organizations in the country.

In response, the UN official reiterated the organization’s commitment to strengthening partnership relations with the Yemeni government to enhance collaborative efforts in addressing the humanitarian crises faced by the population.

He emphasized that all UN and international agencies are focused on supporting the Yemeni government and its people through their activities.
