The dangerous and unprecedented violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people top the agenda of the 54th ordinary session of the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights (PCHR), due to be held at the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo and will run for three days.

In a statement on Sunday, Arab League’s Assistant Secretary General and head of social affairs sector Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, highlighted that countering these gross violations that engulfed the occupied Palestinian territories would remain the top priorities of this session, including the unabated offensive in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the continued detention of the Palestinian martyrs’ bodies by the de facto Israeli occupier.

Abu Ghazaleh pointed out that since PCHR gives foremost priority to the original human rights, primarily the right to health and education, it worked to follow up on the outcomes of the Arab summit that was recently held in Manama, pertaining to ensuring th
ese two rights during the armed conflict.

The session will endorse the theme of the Arab Human Rights Day 2025, which falls on Mar.15 each year, in addition to tackling the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and human rights, particularly the ethics governing the field of AI, and the ways to address the challenges posed by this state-of-the-art technology to the optimal enjoyment of human rights.

In addition, PCHR is set to submit its recommendations to the upcoming 162nd ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, for further perusal and approval in September.
