The Parliament Speaker, Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, met on Monday with the First Deputy Prime Minister – Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Emergency Response and Flood Damage, Allamah Mohammed Muftah.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Oil and Minerals Minister , a member of the committee, Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir, and the Acting Chairman of the Oil Company, Mohammed Al-Lakoumi, to review the Supreme Committee activities and the work done by it in relation to relief and shelter for those affected in the affected areas in Hodeida, Mahwit, Hajjah, Raymah and Dhamar, as well as the path of emergency treatments for damaged roads and inventory of damages.

Muftah explained that field work is ongoing by various teams, including relief work and temporary shelter.

He pointed out that the magnitude of the damage in those areas calls for mobilizing energies and concerted and integrated efforts between the government, the private sector and active societal frameworks.

Muftah stressed that the government will not he
sitate to fulfill its duties towards citizens in the affected areas.

The Speaker stressed the importance of intensifying efforts by the government , its concerned and relevant agencies, including the oil sector, to alleviate the citizens’ suffering in the affected areas and to mobilize the energies of the active forces in society , the private sector to contribute to relief and reconstruction work, especially in Malhan, as it is one of the most affected areas.
