Palestinian sustains fractures in Israeli army attack near Bethlehem

A Palestinian man today sustained several fractures due to an Israeli army attack in Husan village, west of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to security sources.

They said that Israeli forces showed up at a house in the southern West Bank village, broke inside and brutally attacked the homeowner, inflicting several fractures in his chest.

The 45-year-old casualty was rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment.

They added that the gun-toting soldiers assaulted a disabled man in the village.

During ensuing confrontations, the soldiers fired volleys of tear-gas canisters towards the local youths, causing a number to suffocate.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
