A delegation of more than 35 Tunisian companies is currently on a business mission in the United States until January 12, 2024.

Organised for the third time on the initiative of the Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises (CONECT), in collaboration with the United States Embassy in Tunis, this mission includes a visit to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Centre (LVCC), USA.

The aim is to strengthen business cooperation, share expertise, keep abreast of key global developments and enhance commercial and investment opportunities with international partners and operators in this crucial sector.

Established in 1967, the show is the world’s largest electronics exhibition and serves as a platform for showcasing the latest electronic products and future trends.

This new edition was marked by the presence of nearly 130,000 visitors, more than 4,000 exhibitors and 1,200 start-ups. The programme includes the organisation of 250 conferences around the main theme of
“Artificial Intelligence”, with the participation of over 1,000 high-level speakers.

CONECT’s Executive Director, Bilel Ben Hamida, highlighted the low presence of African and Arab countries, and stated that CONECT’s efforts will focus on increasing the presence of Tunisian companies in the next session, particularly with regard to start-ups.

The aim is to enable these companies to present and market their products and hold meetings with global investors.

Trade between Tunisia and the United States of America reached approximately TND 3,254.3 million by the end of November 2023, showing a noticeable stagnation.

Exports increased by TND 197.5 million between November 2022 and November 2023, to TND 1,463.4 million. Imports fell by TND 326.4 million to almost TND 1,790.9 million.

The trade deficit fell from TND 851.4 million, at the end of November 2022, to TND 327.5 million at the end of November 2023.

Tunisia is the 13th largest importer to the US market, mainly exporting agricultural products, 80% of wh
ich are dates, olive oil and electromechanical products.
