JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today condemned Israel’s ongoing mass massacres of Palestinians in the war-torn Gaza Strip.

The OIC decried the ongoing Israeli genocidal massacres and crimes against defenceless Palestinians in the Strip, the latest of which was the recovery of the bodies of over 60 Palestinians killed in the Gaza city neighbourhood of Tal al-Hawa along with systematic destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.

It considered that this serves as testimony to Israel’s persistence in its genocidal crimes against Palestinians in violation of the international humanitarian law, the UN resolutions and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings.

It warned about the intensification of the organized terrorism practiced by the occupation forces and colonists in all parts of the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the encroachments upon holy sites, including Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the Ibrahimi Mosque.

It renewed its call to the international com
munity, particularly the UN Security Council (UNSC), to assume their responsibilities towards the need for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of the Israeli genocidal aggression against the Palestinian people.

Israel has proceeded with its genocidal offensive on the war-torn Strip in complete disregard of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ordered Israel in a legally binding decision to halt its military offensive in Rafah, which may violate its obligations under the Genocide Convention.

Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, killing at least 38,345 Palestinians and injuring over 88,295 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, wi
th the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
