Obbad and Al-Bashiri review progress of implementing awareness and oversight campaign on measurement tools


The Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, along with the Executive Director of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, Sam Al-Bashiri, reviewed on Sunday the progress of the implementation of the awareness and control campaign on measurement tools.

Obbad listened to an explanation from the Director of the Authority and the campaign teams about the objectives of the campaign implemented by the Authority within the framework of its plan for the year 1445 AH, to calibrate weighing tools and devices in markets and shops to protect the consumer from fraud and tampering with calibers and weights and to arrest violators.

The Mayor of the Capital stressed the importance of everyone’s concerted efforts to make this campaign successful, which aims to protect consumers from fraud and tighten control over weighing and measuring devices, pointing out the importance of spreading community awareness of the importance of measuring and weighing.

He urged everyone to adhere to the specifi
cations and standards and cooperate with the campaign teams, stressing the readiness of the secretariat leadership to provide all facilities for the success of the campaign and all of the authority’s programmes.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Authority explained that the campaign includes awareness and oversight aspects, as well as a field trip followed by taking legal measures against those who tamper with measuring and weighing tools… stressing the Authority’s keenness to provide services to citizens and merchants alike as it is the thorn of the scales and the first line of defense for the citizen.

He appreciated the cooperation of the leadership of the capital secretariat and the local authorities in the districts with the authority to make the campaign a success, pointing out that the campaign will be implemented in various governorates.

They were accompanied by Deputy Director General of the Yemeni Standardization Organization, Muhammad Al-Dailami.
