Norwegian Foreign Minister Aspen Barth Eide discussed here Wednesday with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire and bring sufficient aid into all parts of the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, Al-Safadi stressed the need to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza immediately, warning of the danger of its continuation, it’s devastating effects, and the humanitarian catastrophe it causes.

Al Safadi underlined the necessity of implementing UN Security Council Resolution No. 2735, which was adopted by the Council, and Jordans support for efforts to reach an exchange deal that leads to a permanent ceasefire.

Al Safadi also emphasized the need to stop all illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which undermine the two-state solution and push the situation toward an explosion.

For his part, the Norwegian minister affirmed his country’s position calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and the need for Israel to adhere to internati
onal law and international humanitarian law and lift all obstacles to the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, stressing Norway’s support for the two-state solution and the need to move effectively to implement it.
