Newspaper Review: Ongoing Israeli escalation in Jerusalem focus of dailies

News about the ongoing Israeli violations and escalations against the Palestinians in the occupied city of Jerusalem hit the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies on Wednesday.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that Israeli police and forces last night suppressed Palestinian worshippers in the area of Damascus Gate in occupied East Jerusalem, adding that they assaulted a number of citizens and detained some of them as well.

The Israeli police detained the Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem governor, Adnan Ghaith, at his home in occupied East Jerusalem and after holding him for several hours handed him an order renewing an earlier ban on entering the West Bank for six months before releasing him, as reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that Israel will continue to build settlements in the West Bank, and there will be no freeze in construction.

The dailies said that the Israeli occupation authorities notified a Palestinian family of the intention to demolish its house and other structures in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya.

They added that the Israeli occupation authorities ordered a halt on the construction of a house in Fasayil village, north of Jericho city.

According to the papers, Israeli authorities also ordered a halt on the construction of three agricultural structures in occupied West Bank Qalqilya-district village.
