Baghdad , The leaders of the Democratic Party in Congress decided to postpone the announcement of President Joe Biden’s candidacy for the presidential elections for a week.

The New York Times reported that Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, was among those calling for a postponement, according to statements by an ‘informed’ person who declined to reveal his identity.

The newspaper added, ‘Schumer spoke with Representative Hakeem Jeffries, the minority leader in the House of Representatives, and they agreed to push the party to postpone this process.’

This maneuver comes as Representative Adam Schiff of California has become the most prominent Democratic representative calling on Biden to end his campaign immediately.

‘Democrats at the Capitol and elsewhere have resumed discussions about the possibility of replacing Biden as the presidential nominee after a brief hiatus in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.’

The White House had announced that US Presi
dent Joe Biden had been infected with the Coronavirus Covid-19 and that he was suffering from mild symptoms.
