The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) organized Wednesday the 3rd edition of the Qatar Cyber Assurance Annual Conference, titled “Foster Collaboration to Achieve the Cyber Security Vision,” in the presence of HE President of the NCSA Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Maliki, and a number of senior officials, representatives of government agencies, private companies, and cyber security service providers in the country.
The conference seeks to enhance cooperation and concerted efforts between various sectors in the country in order to overcome challenges and risks in the field of cyber security. It also highlights the NCSA’s collaborative efforts in cyber security in partnership with various entities, most notably the Qatar Financial Markets Authority, Qatar Development Bank, and CREST International.
The conference is a platform to present the future plan for cyber security in the State of Qatar in light of the recently launched National Cyber Security Strategy 2024-2030.
In her opening remarks, Director
of National Cyber Assurance and Governance Affairs at the NCSA Engineer Dana Yousef Al Abdulla said that their vision for the coming years will be based on bridging the gaps, and that work will be done on what is stipulated in the National Cyber Security Strategy, specifically the second pillar in developing regulations for the public and private sectors to enhance cyber assurance, compliance and participation in oversight mechanisms.
She added that they will work to coordinate efforts related to other pillars such as research, innovation, international cooperation and developing workforce talents to raise the level of cyber security and resilience in the Qatari system, and that they will also continue to analyze the root causes, identify the reasons that lead to increased risks and threats in vital sectors in the country, and propose effective assurance tools to reduce them.
She highlighted the NCSA’s efforts to issue key and supportive services to establish the system, such as issuing licenses to cyber se
curity service providers, introducing new paths for accrediting service providers, and increasing awareness about Qatar’s efforts in the field of cyber security at the regional and international levels, which are consistent with the fifth pillar of the National Cyber Security Strategy.
During the conference, a number of companies and institutions were honored for their contributions and achievements in cyber security. In addition, a number of entities were granted accreditation certificates and compliance certificates for the National Information Assurance Standard (NIA) and the Qatar Common Criteria Scheme (QCCS).
