NCEDC conducts drill on biological threats

The Jordanian National Center for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC) on Monday began a drill on biological threats and sound practices to deal with them. The two-day exercise includes lectures and a simulation of a biological threat scenario that could occur in any of the institutions, as well as proposals and solutions to address an attack within an “advanced methodological approach”. JCDC President Raeda Al Qutub told participants, representing various national institutions and agencies, that the drill is in implementation of the center’s strategy for the years 2023-2025 with the aim of raising the efficiency of workers and spreading awareness among them to address biological threats. In cooperation with partners at the national and international levels, the center seeks to enhance practices and precautions to reduce such risks on response crews, society and the surrounding environment along with a number of projects and activities the center implements in the public health domain, added Qutub. It was the latest in a series that the JCDC is carrying out, as it conducted other drills to deal with threats at the borders and zoonotic diseases and epidemics and assess the response to them, with the aim to hone the skills of workers in national institutions to face any potential outbreaks of epidemics or threats to society.
