The National Security Service announced today, Monday, the thwarting of attempts to smuggle large quantities of oil derivatives in a number of governorates.

The Service said in a statement that its detachments were able, based on accurate intelligence information and after the necessary judicial approvals, to seize quantities of oil derivatives before attempting to smuggle them.

It added: “In Anbar, 6,000 liters and a vehicle for transporting fuel were seized and 3 suspects were arrested, while in Diyala, about 7,000 liters of oil were seized and 3 suspects were arrested with their vehicles.”

It added: “In the governorates of Baghdad, Kirkuk and Muthanna, more than 113 thousand liters of oil derivatives prepared for smuggling were seized and 5 suspects were arrested,” noting that the suspects, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law.”
