North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles in a northeastern direction on Wednesday, in the second such test in a week.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it detected the launches from the North’s Kaechon area in South Phyongan Province, north of Pyongyang, and the missiles flew about 400 kilometers, Yonhap News Agency reported.
It did not provide further details, such as the number of missiles fired or where they landed.
Japan also confirmed the launch with the coastguard saying North Korea fired at least two ballistic missiles.
Pyongyang fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles last Thursday, the first such launch in more than two months, which it later said was a test of a new 600mm multiple-launch rocket system. It was the countrys first major test since early July.
Wednesdays missile launches also came days after the isolated country released the first-ever images of its uranium enrichment facility.
