First deputy speaker of the Lower House, Ahmad Khalayleh, referred to His Majesty King Abdullah II’s firm and unwavering stances in defending Palestinian cause, which affirms its centrality. The House will spare no effort in defending Palestinians’ just right , affirmed by His Majesty at various regional and international forums, Khalayleh added. During a meeting of House Palestine Committee on Wednesday, with Executive Director of Hashemite Fund for Restoration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock, Wasfi Kilani, lawmakers were briefed on the fund’s efforts towards supporting Jerusalemites and steadfast Palestinians, who defend Al-Aqsa Mosque. For his part, the committee’s chairman, MP Fayez Basbous, referred to the King’s efforts to prioritise Palestinian cause, who is the custodian over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sanctities. Hashemite Custodianship is not based on the religious dimension only, but has political, historical and legal dimensions that had a key role in establishing Jerusalem’s status quo with the right of the Palestinian people to their land and sanctities, he said. Meanwhile, Kilani reviewed the fund’s role in completing construction projects, pointing out that the fund is an institution affiliated with custodianship over Jerusalem’s religious and historical monuments. Kilani also referred to hard-line Israeli campaigns by vandalizing Islamic and Christian religious monuments, which requires making further efforts to stop this extremist racial hatred towards other religions.
