The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasts ongoing thunderstorms of varying intensity across several provinces in Yemen over the next 24 hours.

The center’s weather bulletin predicts thunderstorms affecting parts of Taiz, Dhale’, Ibb, Raymah, Dhamar, Sana’a, Amran, Mahweet, Hajjah, Sa’ada, and Tihama Plain.

Scattered rain, occasionally accompanied by thunder, is expected in Lahj, Bayda, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, Mahrah, and the eastern coasts.

Additionally, strong to very strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 knots are anticipated around the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern Gulf of Aden.

Moderate to active winds of 10 to 20 knots are expected on the eastern and southern coasts.

Recent rainfall measurements include 15.2 mm in Ibb, 8.6 mm in Sana’a, 2 mm in Dhamar, 1.1 mm in Taiz, 1 mm in Ad Dale’, and 0.4 mm in Mahweet. Thunderstorms have affected both mountainous regions and coastal areas.

The center advises caution due to potential flooding, reduced visibility on mountain roads, an
d rock slides.

Sea-goers and fishermen are warned of rough seas and high waves in the Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coasts.
