Meteorology: Rains of varying intensity, sea turbulence


The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning on Monday predicted thunderstorms of varying severity in parts of several governorates, and sea turbulence around the Socotra archipelago and eastern territorial waters during the next 24 hours.

The center said in its weather bulletin that thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected in parts of the Tehama Plain and the governorates of Hajjah, Hodeida, Mahweet, Sa’ada, Rima, Ibb, Taiz, Taiz, Lahj, Dhalea, Abyan and the Socotra archipelago.

Sporadic rain is possible in parts of the governorates of Hadhramout, Shabwa, Baydha, Marib, Al-Jawf, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar and Aden.

The center noted the possibility of sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra archipelago and the east of the country’s territorial waters.

The amount of rain that fell during the past 24 hours and was measured at some meteorological stations reached in Taiz: 34.4 mm, Ibb: 31.5, Al Mahweet: 16.3, Lahj: 11.9, Sana’a: 9.1, Sa’ada: 4.6, Zahra-Hodeida: 4.6, Al Dhalea: 3.4, Al Ja
wf: 1.6 mm.

Rains that were outside the scope of the monitoring stations also fell on parts of Socotra, Hadhramout, Shabwa, Marib, Baydha, Abyan, Abyan, Rima, Hajjah, Amran and Tehama Plain governorates.

The centre warned citizens against being in valley bottoms, torrential waterways, crossing land bridges, and thunderstorms, and advised taking the necessary precautions to protect themselves from them.

The centre also warned of low horizontal visibility on roads and mountain slopes due to rainfall or fog formation, and sea turbulence and high waves.
