The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, received today, Thursday, the new Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, General Kevin Leahy, and his accompanying delegation.

A statement by the regional government stated that the meeting, which was attended by the US Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Steve Bittner, discussed the general situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Syria, and discussed the efforts made to confront the dangers of ISIS and terrorism in general.

Barzani expressed his thanks and appreciation for the continued support provided by the United States and the International Coalition to the Kurdistan Region.

For his part, the Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces stressed the importance of the partnership, pointing to the status of the joint struggle between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.

During the meeting, the two sides also highlighted the progress achieved in the issue of unifying
the Peshmerga forces, and the reforms implemented in the joints of the Peshmerga Ministry.
