Bahrain on Tuesday welcomed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution calling for an immediate, full and complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of prisoners, the home-return of civilians, and safe humanitarian aid access.

In a press release, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry commended the resolution as a significant step towards addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation and ending the devastating eight-month war.

In this context, the ministry expressed its appreciation for the US efforts in submitting and adopting this draft resolution based on the initiative of U.S. President Joe Biden.

The UN Security Council on Monday adopted a resolution aimed at reaching a comprehensive ceasefire deal in three phases to end the war in Gaza.

Adopted by a large majority with 14 votes in favor and Russia abstaining – choosing not to exercise its veto power – the resolution also urges all parties to fully implement the terms of the proposal “without delay and without condition”.
